Renowned ink wash painting artist Shanming Ye adapts his larger-than-life story into this poetic and uplifting biography, which he also stars in and composes. Eighteen-year-old Hsiao-Yu Chang comes to the big city of Hefei to study art. But after continuous frustrations and rejections, Chang eventually decides to move to a remote village in Huizhou and start a reclusive life.
