Orphans Of World War II

Episode 2

Children after the war

In the aftermath of World War II, where rubble became a daily reality, rebuilding walls wasn't the greatest challenge; it was the restoration of childhood. Amidst this devastation, the principle of "the best interests of the child" emerged as a legal and moral guiding light, redirecting attention to what truly mattered: saving an entire generation from the consequences of war. Between court rulings and struggles of conscience, stories reveal how this concept transformed from a legal text into a humanitarian act that altered the destinies of thousands of children.
